Description

The Japanese Studies Program at Trinity College offers Japanese language courses at all levels (Elementary, Intermediate, and Advanced) and numerous courses related to Japanese culture. Partly because of the popularity of Japanese pop culture such as anime, manga, video games, J-Pop music, V-tubers, etc., the Japanese language is one of the most popular languages to learn among languages with non-Roman alphabets. Also because of the country’s technological advancement, the Japanese language and culture remain important to work in many business fields in the globalized world. In addition to Japanese language courses at all levels, students can learn Japanese animation films, modern Japanese literature, the relationship between Japanese Ukiyo-e and manga, Japanese American literature, and Japanese calligraphy. Students are also encouraged to study in Japan as exchange students in urban areas such as Tokyo and Nagoya.
