Program Requirements
The French language minor is designed to develop linguistic skills and to give an appreciation of francophone cultures and civilizations. It consists of 5.5 credits beyond FREN 102, distributed as follows:
Two required courses:
FREN 241: Advanced Composition and Style
FREN 281: Conversational French
Other courses may include, but are not limited to: FREN 247, 248, 251, 252, and/or any of our 300-level classes conducted in French.
The additional .5 credit can be earned through FREN 151: French Film Festival (with written work completed in French), or another 1-credit Francophone studies course.
A maximum of one course taught in English under the language and culture studies rubric may be counted toward the minor.
A maximum of one credit may be transferred from an approved study-away program.
Students interested in declaring a minor should contact the minor coordinator(s): Karen Humphreys or Blase Provitola.
Students interested in cross-disciplinary approaches to the study of Francophone cultures are referred to the interdisciplinary Francophone studies minor.
