Program Requirements

For the 2025-2026 Academic Year, there will be two areas of focus.

In the Fall of 2025, students will enroll in two courses, one of which will explore the intellectual and cultural production in ancient Greece, while the other course will examine the work of a number of Roman philosophers. These two courses will create a conversation between these ancient worlds and their contemporary resonances.

In the Spring of 2026, the focus will shift in one course to an exploration of the ways in which sensory experience is figured in literature from the Renaissance into the contemporary era. The second course in the Spring cycle will take up the evolution of idea of the individual and the self through literature, art, memoirs, letters and autobiographies.
