Program Requirements

Students minoring in Chinese take five courses beyond CHIN 101. One required core course

  • INTS-CHIN 237: 20th-century Chinese Literature and Films

  • Three semesters of Chinese language courses taken at Trinity, with the highest level of language course taken at Trinity no lower than CHIN 301.

  • One elective:

    • Can include any Chinese language courses not counted towards the required three semesters.

    • May be either of the following two courses

      • CHIN 329: Chinese Business Culture

      • CHIN 411: US-China Relations in Mandarin

    • Or may be taken in English in another discipline (beyond the 100 level), focusing on topics related to the sinophone world. These courses may be found, for example, in such departments or programs as History, Fine Arts, International Studies, Anthropology, Philosophy, Political Science, the other sections of the Language and Culture Studies department, the program in Women, Gender and Sexuality, or the equivalents of such offerings in any approved study-away program.

  • A maximum of 1 credit may be transferred from an approved study-away program.
