Program Requirements
The minor in physics consists of four foundational courses in physics and mathematics and two upper-level physics electives. The two-course elective requirement cannot be fulfilled with transfer, study away, or consortium credits. No course with a grade less than C- may be counted toward the minor. The requirements are:
Two foundational courses in physics:
PHYS 231L. Electricity and Magnetism
PHYS 232L. Optics and Modern Physics
Two foundational courses in mathematics:
MATH 132. Calculus II
Either MATH 231. Calculus III OR MATH 234. Differential Equations
Two physics electives chosen from the following:
PHYS 300. Mathematical Methods of Physics
PHYS 301. Analytical Mechanics
PHYS 302. Electrodynamics
PHYS 304. Statistical and Thermal Physics
PHYS 313. Quantum Mechanics
PHYS 316. Experimental Laser Optics
PHYS 317. Relativity & Fundamental Particles
PHYS 320. Modern Physical Measurements
PHYS 330. Astronomy & Astrophysics
